Honeycomb

Terms of use

Honeycomb is free and open source. Use it, share it and change it under the GPL. It’s an alpha, so keep backups.

Who this is

Honeycomb and this website are made by n1ji, an independent developer. You can reach me at [email protected].

The license

Honeycomb is free software under the GNU General Public License, version 3 or later. You may run it for any purpose, study and change the source code, and share copies, changed or not, as long as you follow the GPL. The full license is in the LICENSE file. If anything on this page seems to conflict with the GPL, the GPL wins.

Honeycomb costs nothing. There’s no account, subscription or paid tier.

Alpha software, no warranty

Honeycomb is in early alpha. It may have bugs, change between versions, or stop working. As the GPL says, it comes without any warranty, to the extent the law allows. That includes any warranty that it works for a particular purpose.

Honeycomb never moves or deletes your music files, and it only writes to them when you save in the tag editor. Even so, please keep a backup of your music and library before you edit tags or import from another player.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, I’m not liable for any damage or loss from using Honeycomb or this website, including lost or changed files, metadata or library data. Some places don’t allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.

Your music and other services

Honeycomb plays and organizes files you already have. You’re responsible for having the right to the music you use with it.

Some features use other services: lyrics come from LRCLIB, and downloads and update checks use GitHub. Their own terms apply to them, and I don’t control them. The privacy policy explains what Honeycomb sends to each one.

Downloads

Official builds are published only on Honeycomb’s GitHub releases page. Copies from anywhere else may have been changed, so I can’t vouch for them. The builds aren’t code-signed yet, so your system will warn you the first time you open one. The README explains how to open it.

Name and logo

The GPL covers the code. Please don’t use the Honeycomb name or logo in a way that makes people think a changed version, or something else, comes from me.

Changes

I may update these terms as Honeycomb grows. The date at the top shows the last change. Versions you already downloaded stay under the license they came with.
